Murungakkai Poriyal / Drumstick Poriyal


Murungakkai poriyal recipe is a simple and delicious drumstick dry curry.. Drumsticks are almost an integral part of south indian cooking...I can't think of anyother veggie that imparts so much flavour to a dish... What about the wounder aroma that fills when the dish is being cooked... It is heavenly...


This recipe is a very simple and easy drumstrick dry curry that taste yummy and great and well goes with sambar rice especially curd rice...Other poriyal recipes in my blog you can visit it also...

INGREDIENTS :

Murungakkai / Drumsticks - 3
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tspn
Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
Water - 1/2 cup
Salt - as needed

FOR SEASONING :

Coconut oil - 1 1/2 tspn

Mustard seeds - 1 tspn
Urad dal - 1 tspn
Small onions / shallots - 4 (finely chopped)
Curry leaves - few

FOR MASALA :


Red chilli - 4 nos

Garlic - 1 cloves
Cumin seeds - 1/4 tspn

METHOD :



  • Grind the grinding items into a smooth paste..
  • Cut the drumsticks into 1 1/2 inch thickness and slice them...
  • In a kadai add in drumsticks and turmeric powder, some water and salt..
  • Bring to cook for 10 mins or till the water evaporates...
  • Now add in masala and toss well.
  • Keep it low flame, till the raw smell is gone..
  • Now add in fresh grated coconut and toss them.. off the stove..
  • In another kadai add coconut oil, mustard, urad dal, chopped shallots and some curry leaves..
  • Pour thr tempering items into the prepare poriyal and give it a mix..
  • It's ready to serve..

Take your ingredeints
Add ingredients to the blender
Blend it into smooth paste
Take drumsticks 
Cut them into 1 1/2 inches and slice them
Add to the pan 
Pour some water
Add some turmeric powder
Little bit of salt
Bring to boil
When the water evaporate 
Add a spoon of masala 
Toss well
Add fresh coconut
In a kadai add oil, mustard, urad dal
Add some chopped shallots
When it transparent 
Add curry leaves
Pour to th eporiyal
Toss well
Transfer it into a bowl
Serve hot
