Dhaba Style Chicken Curry / Classic Punjabi Chicken Curry


Today's recipe is pretty close to dhaba style chicken curry... Dhaba style is more to towards classic style of cooking simpler ingredients are used to make recipes, which makes the different style from our usual style of cooking... It is very simple and quick and make within 25 to 30 mins... 


Here the chicken is juicy, tender, soft and also a great start recipe for the beginners.. The chicken is well tossed with spices powder and onion mixture, then they are cooked in water along with chopped ginger, garlic and tomatoes pieces.... This way the chicken is cooked and served in dhabas hotels...

INGREDIENTS :

Coconut oil - 2 tbspn
Onion - 2 (sliced)
Tomato - 1 (chopped)
Ginger - 1 inch piece (chopped)
Garlic - 2 cloves (chopped)
Chilli powder - 1 tspn
Garam masala powder - 1 tbspn
Coriander powder - 1/2 tspn
Cumin powder - 1/2 tspn
Pepper powder - 1/2 tspn
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tspn
Curry leaves - few
Coriander leaves - few (chopped)
Salt - as needed
Water - 1/2 cup

METHOD :

  • Heat a pan with oil, add in onion and curry leaves, Toss well till it became light brown.
  • Now add in all spices powder and stir well along with onions..
  • Add in chicken pieces and toss well with spices, so they coated well on the chicken pieces..
  • Now add in water, salt and give it a mix... 
  • When they comes to boil, add in chopped ginger, garlic and tomato pieces..
  • Cover it with lid and cook for 5 mins, keep stirring inbetween..
  • Toss well and again cook it for 10 mins till the chicken became tender..
  • Open the lid and give it a mix.. when the chicken done, the oil oozes out..
  • Then add in chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
  • Transfer them to a bowl and serve hot..
  • Enjoy...


PICTORIAL :

Take all your ingredients
Take chicken pieces
Heat a pan with oil
Add in onion and curry leaves
Toss till light brown
Now all done 
Add in all spices powder
Toss well till they combained
Add in chicken pieces
Mix well for 2 mins
Add in water 
Give it a mix
Add in salt
When it bring to boil
Add in chopped garlic and ginger 
Add in chopped tomatoes
Give it a mix
Cover it with lid and cook for 5 mins
Give it a mix 
Close it with lid and cook for 10 mins in low flame
Open it and mix well
Now all are done
Add in coriander leaves
Mix it well
Transfer them into a bowl
Serve hot
