Ulundu Paal Kanji / Urad Dal Milk Porridge


Porridge / Kanji takes place atleast once in a week in my house.. Normally it will ulundu kanji or normal rice milk kanji.. But i made this porridge yesterday and i love it so much.. Its been a while since i posted many millets recipes and many peoples has started asking me.. when i had this, i didn't miss my normal rice milk kanji and it tasted so yummy.. 


Usually in our tamilnadu we use to prepare regularly in week and drink it is more healthy and calcium.. I add sugar to taste but you skip it and add in salt, that's also so yummy....This is my family favourite breakfast recipe... we have it without any sidedish... So I hope that you must try this recipe and let me know how it's turns out from you..

INGREDIENTS :

Raw rice - 1 cup
Urad dal without skin - 1 cup
Garlic - 6 cloves (chopped)
Sugar - as needed
Milk - 2 cup / 350 ml
Water - 2 1/2 cup

METHOD :

  • In a bowl take urad dal and rice, Wash them...
  • Now in a pressure cooker add in both rice and urad dal.
  • Cover with water and add garlic cloves in it..
  • Cover and cook for 3 whistle. simmer the stove and cook for 10 mins..
  • Now turn the stove off and let the steam escape all by itself..
  • Open the cooker and using a ladle mix everything up till the rice and dal broken up...
  • When it reach the correct consistency..
  • Add in boiled milk and sugar.. Mix well..
  • Kanji is done...
  • Enjoy.

Take the ingredients
Chopped garlic
In a bowl take rice and urad dal
Mix well
Wash them well
Add in pressure cooker
Add in water
Now it's done
Add in garlic
Pressure cook for 3 whistle
Now it's done, using ladle to break rice and dal
Add in boiled milk
nOW IT'S DONE
Add in sugar (you may also add salt instead of sugar)
Give a mix
Now it's done
Serve hot
