Stuffed Onion Paratha / Pyaaz ka Paratha Recipe


Onion paratha or pyaaz ka paratha recipe is a dish with whole wheat bread stuffed with spiced onions... I often make different types of paratha at home but many of these paratha recipes are not posted on blog.. So i have decided to post these paratha recipes one by one...



Parathas can be had for breakfast or a quick brunch or lunch.. Accompanied with a side vegetables dish or raita these pararthas make for a complete meal... As for as onion paratha is concerned it is very easy to make.. On top of it, onions are easily available in any kitchen and so in an indian kitchen..


For all onion lover these onion paratha are must to have.. Easy to prepare and they also make a good tiffin box snacks too.. If you have leftover whole wheat dough, then you can make these parathas quickly...You can frying this parathas with oil or either with ghee.. 


Preparation time : 15 mins
Cooking time : 20 mins
Serve - 4
Recipe cuisine : North indian

INGREDIENTS :

Whole wheat flour - 3 cups
Salt - 1/2 tspn
Oil or ghee - 1 tbspn
Warm water - as needed
Ghee / oil for frying parathas

FOR STUFFING :

Onion - 3 (chopped finely)
Coriander seeds - 1/2 tspn
Chilli powder - 1/4 tspn
Garam masala powder - 1/4 tspn
Asafoetida - 1 pinch
Salt - 1 tspn
Coriander leaves (finely chopped)
Oil - for frying

METHOD :

  • In a mixing bowl add in flour, salt, oil and mix well..
  • Now add some warm water, begi n to knead the dough..
  • And add in some more water and knead it smooth and soft dough..
  • Punch the dough while kneading..
  • Cover and keep aside for 15 to 20 mins..


PREPARATING THE FILLING :

  • In a pan add in oil, chopped onions, coriander leaves, a pinch of asafoetida, chilli powder, garam masala powder and toss well.
  • Keep it in low flame, once it toss and onion is transparent add in salt and mix well
  • Now atlast add in chopped coriander leaves and mix well..
  • Now the filling is ready..


PREPARATION :

  • Take a medium sized balls from the dough and roll it into 3-4 inches disc.
  • Spoon some onion mixture in tjhe center of the dough and joint them together all the edges of the dough..
  • Joint them in the center and press downwards..
  • Sprinkle some flour and roll it into a paratha..
  • Fry the paratha on a hot tawa by drizzling oil or ghee on the both sides..
  • Till the paratha is evenly cooked...
  • Now it's ready serve hot..


PICTORIAL :  


 Take whole wheat flour in a mixing bowl
 Add in salt
 Spoon some oil
 Heat some water in a sauce pan
 Pour some water
 Rub it with your hands
 Then add in some water
 Make smooth and soft dough 
and let it rest for 15 mins
 Make them into small balls
 Now for filling add oil in a pan
 Add in onions
 Coriander leaves
 Apinch of asafoetida
 Some chilli powder
 Spoon some garam masala powder
Toss it, till it became transparent 
 Sprinkle some salt
 Toss well
Add in some chopped coriander leaves
 Toss well and filling is ready
 Now take a dough ball
 Roll it into a small circle
 Spoon some onion fillings
 Cover it 
 Take them in rolling board and sprinkle some flour
 Roll it into a paratha
 Place it on a heat tawa
 Turn it..
 Add some oil
 Fry on both sides till is evenly cooked
 Now it's done
 Serve hot
 Enjoy...
