Ginger Pachadi For Sothi Kuzhambu


As my friend is basically from tirunelveli, she makes authentic tirunelveli recipes very well. This is one of the signature dishes of her, Usually sodhi is prepared only when we have special guests at home.. Especially for newly married couples.. So it is called as " Maapillai Sodhi".. That is completely made out of coconut milk and its a bit time consuming process too. Which i have already post in my blog... 



The best accompaniment for sodhi is ginger pachadi which helps in easy digestion of coconut milk.. So if you plan to make Sodhi Kuzhambu don't forget to make ginger pachadi... Along with that we make Raw banana chips to munch.. So i hope that you must try this recipe and let know how it's comes out from you...

INGREDIENTS :

Ginger - 2 big finger size
Coriander seeds - 2 tspn
Red chilli - 1
Tamarind - small berry size
Jaggery - small piece
Salt - as needed

TO TEMPER :

Coconut oil - 1 tbspn
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tspn
Small onions - 4 (chopped)
Red chilli - 1 (broken)
Curry leaves - few..

METHOD :


  • Chop the ginger finely and set aside..
  • Soak the tamarind in the water and extract the juice.. Keep aside
  • Heat a kadai with oil saute the ginger, corianderseeds, red chilli till nice aroma arises..
  • Grind it with little water to a smooth paste.. Keep aside.
  • Heat the kadai with a tspn of oil and season with temper items given in the " TO TEMPER".
  • Now add in ginger paste and tamarind water, salt and boil for 5 mins.
  • Then add the jeggery to it.. Boil till the oil seperates.
  • When it reach the pachadi consistency switch off the flame..
  • Serve with Sodhi kuzhambu..


PICTORIAL :



Take grinding items
Add it to the kadai
Along with a spn of oil and toss till aroma arise
Add it to the blender 
Make it a paste
In a kadai add in oil and mustard seeds
When it crackle add in chilli and curry leaves
Add in chopped small onions
Toss well till transparent
Add in ginger paste
Tamarind water
Allow to boil
Add in salt
Then a small piece of jaggery 
Boil till oil floats
Now it's done
Serve with Sodhi kuzhambu
