Coconut Burfi


Coconut Burfi / Thengai Burfi is my hubby's favourite sweet.. As diwali is nearing, So i wanted to try this simple and tasty sweet with easy method for you.... I posted Coconut Ladoo recipes in my blog... It is also so simple to make and taste is divine...



Here the cocnut Burfi is made with few ingredients. I wounder why I have not attemped to make this before... I wanted to make this burfi and learn it form Sharmis passion.. It is simple method to do it in this site.... so i think off why should give it a try.. But days flew away and i could not do it.. Now the diwali is coming so wants to try it before diwali... 


So tried it and succeeded in very first attempt in this method... And it looks amazing and mouth watering sweet.. you can try it for this diwali and get the wishes from your family... My hubby loves it... and I am difinitely going to make again and again... Also for this diwali....



Preparation time : 10 mins
Cooking time : 20 mins
Makes : 10 to 12 pieces
Recipe cusine : Sharmis Passion

INGREDIENTS :

Coconut grated - 1 cup
Sugar - 3/4 cup
Water - 1/4 cup
Pista / pistachio - 2 tbspn (broken)
Ghee - 2 tspn
Cardomom powder - a pinch

METHOD :

  • First grease a plate/ tray with ghee and keep it ready. 
  • Take wide bottomed non - stick pan and add sugar and water mix well till sugar dissolves completely and start bubbling..
  • Keep stirring till a single string consistency...
  • At the stage add coconut, combain and keep stirring till bubbles star forming at the edges..
  • Add ghee. Then add in chopped pista and cardomom powder and give a quick stir..
  • After 3 mins it will start thickening and starts coming easily from the sides of the pan..
  • Switch off the flame and transfer the mixture to the tray..
  • Cut into squares when its still warm. 
  • Cool down completely then store it in a air tight container..
  • I love when it is warm...


NOTES :

  1. While scrapping the coconut take care not to scrap till the brown sides. 
  2. If you like your burfi is to be fine then grind the coconut once in mixie.
  3. You can even roast the coconut seperately before adding to the sugar syrup.
  4. Make sure cool them only for 10 ins else making pieces will be difficult..


PICTORIAL :


 Take pista in chopping board
 Broken it
Grease the plate with ghee
 In non - stick pan add in sugar
 Add water
 When it bubbles and one stir consistency
 Add coconut
 Cardomom powder
 Now give a quick stir
 Add in chopped pista
 Mix well, when it became thick
 Transfer the mixture to the tray
 Spread it evenly
 Place pista in the mixture
 Cool it for 10 mins, cut it into squares
 Serve it
