Vavval Fish Fry / Masala Fish Fry


Karu Vavval fish fry (pomfret fish) is so tasty and spicy.. Though the basic ingredients for the fish is the same for all fish, you can feel the different taste for each variety of fish, But it gives traditional taste....This fish tastes equally good when grilled too.... Marinate and refirdge, use it as and requried for lunch or dinner, deep fry, shallow fry or grill, Either way it's taste is awesome....

Marinating time : 30 mins
Frying time : 5 mins

INGREDIENTS :

Pomfert fish / karu vavval meen - 350 grams
Chilli powder - 1 tbspn
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tspn
Pepper powder - 1/2 tspn
Lemon - 1/2 
Red food colour - 1 pinch
Salt - as needed
Oil - for frying

METHOD : 

  • Clean the fish and cut into thin small pieces depending on the kind of fish you are using.
  • In a mixing bowl add in chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt, pepper powder, lemon juice, food colour and mix well.
  • Now add in fish, apply the paste on the fish pieces one by one. 
  • Keep it aside for 1/2 hour in a refrigerator ..
  • Heat a pan with oil for deep frying.
  • When it reach the smoke stage add the fish one by one,
  • Fry it for 5 mins for each side.. Fry all the pieces also in same method ...
  • Sprinkle some lemon juice or serve with hot rice...
  • I serve with rasam rice...



PICTORIAL :


Chilli powder in a mixing bowl
Some salt
Turmeric powder
A pinch of red colour
Pepper powder
Squeeze the lemon juice
Add in vavval fish
Mix well with the fish pieces
Transfer it in a bowl
Refridge it for 1/2 hour
Heat a pan with oil for frying
Deep fry the fishes
Drain it in a tissue papper
Serve with rasam
