Nungu Sarbath / Palm Fruit Drink


Nungu recipes to beat the summer heat..Mostly southern part of tamilnadu is famous for nungu Sarbath in summer. In this season street vendor to shop vendor make this sarbath..Palm seeds have healthy benefits, One can make tasty desserts like Nungu sarbath with an abundance of toddy palm fruits, I made this drink using them tat are very refreshing and invigorating. Perfect for hot wheather...





These summery drinks are not only cooling to the system but absolutely delicious too...Toddy palm seeds are nutritious loaded with vitamins and mirerals. I am also so glad that i brought nongu from my village and soon i post how they make Palm jaggery (Karuppatti) which is from the extract of palm trees... without any preservatives of chemical agents.. 




This drink is one of my family all time favourite.. During summer time we can see lots of palm fruit shop and tender coconut shop on the road side of the roads.... There is nothing but they mix sarbath and palm fruit together and give us in tall glass tumblers with a spoon... It taste so yummy and it cools your body...So try this yummy and delicious drink and comments about it...

Preparation time : 10 mins
Serve - 3 or 4

INGREDIENTS :

Nungu / Palm Fruit - 15 (crushed roughly)
Nannari sarbath - 1/2 cup
Lemon - 4 or 5 
Water - 1 /2 cup
Ice cubes - 1 bowl

METHOD :

  • When you crush palm fruit, It will release some liquid. Dont mash it too much.
  • Ther should be some chunks as well.
  • Take a mixing bowl with icecubes and Squeeze the lemon 
  • And pour in sarbath, and some water and mix well..
  • Then take a serving bowl, spoon in some crushed nungu and top with some nannari juice...
  • Serve and enjoy..

Take your ingredients
Prepare your nungu (crush it lightly)
Crushed like this 
Take nannari sarbath
Cut the lemon 
Place it inthe lemon squeezer
Press it to extract juice
Along with icecubes
Some nannari sarbath
Mix well till it combained
Pour some water and mix well
Now sarbath is ready
Then spoon some nungu
In the serving glass
Upto half of the glass
Some sarbath into the glass
Serve chillied
Yum...
