Cauliflower Subji / Gobhi ki sabzi


Among the very many recipe requests I get on the wattsApp, one which tops the list is sidedish for chapathi, so i post this recipe... This cauliflower sabzi is very easy and simple recipe for the roti or chapathi.. I had a go north indian phase a while back where i tried a new dish every day, and i made post them all in my blog.. 


We were having ritis as part of our weight loss regime and if started to pair them with calorie laden dishes, we might as well have dal for dinner! Sabzi make a great sidedish for rice or roti... I make different combination of them very often. My favourite sabzi is made with cauliflower...It is an mild and delicious indian dish that can be made with simple ingredients..

Cooking time : 20 mins

INGREDIENTS : 

Onion - 2 (chopped finely)
Cauliflower - 1 (chopped)
Sambar masala powder - 1 tspn
Garam masala powder - 1 tspn
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tspn
Water - 1 cup
Mustrad - 1/2 tspn
Oil - 1 tbspn
Salt - as needed

METHOD :

  • Cut the cauliflower in bite size pieces...
  • Just boil water with salt and soak the cauliflower florets for 5 mins... And drain it...
  • Heat a pan with oil and splutter the mustard and add in finely chopped onions, salt and fry till transparent...
  • Then add in cauliflower and mix well..
  • Add little bit of water and give a mix, 
  • When the water is half evoperate add in garam masala powder and sambar powder and toss well.
  • Mix in between to avoid getting burnt..
  • When the water dries up the cauliflower is cooked well. 
  • Add a tspn of ghee or butter if you want...


PICTORIAL :


Cut the onion and cauliflower
Add the cauliflower to the heat water for 5 mins
Drain it
Heat a pan with oil and mustard
Add in onions
Little bit of salt
Toss well
Add in cauliflower and mix well
Add some water
When the water half dries
Add in sambar powder
Mix well
Then garam masala powder
Toss well for 5 mins in low flame
Transfer it into a bowl
Serve hot
