Dahi vada / Thayir Vadai



Dahi Vada / Thayir Vada is very delicious, popular in north india but you can also love my south indian style thayir vada recipe... My hubby love it more than sambar vada and rasa vada.. In this recipe the vada is so soft because we soaked in water and the kara boondi is crispy to eat along with this thayir vada.. 

 

Dahi vada is a dish famous in all over india. It can be eaten as a snacks or a part of meal. It is a popular snacks where lentil dumplings are dunked in a creamy whipped yogurt topping and sprinkle with kara boondi.. Delicious..

Cooking Time : 20 mins
Serve - 3 to 4

INGREDIENTS :


FOR MAKING VADA:


Urad dal - 200 gms

Asafoetida - 1/2 tspn
Salt - 1 tspn
Coconut oil - for frying

FOR DAHI :


Thick yogurt - 500 ml

Salt - 1 1/2 tspn
Asafoetida - 1 tspn
Coriander leaves - as required
Oil - 1 tspn
Mustard - 1 tspn
urad dal - 1 tspn
Green chilli - 4(finely chopped)
Ginger - small piece(finely chopped)
Water - as required

FOR TOPPING :


Kara boondi


METHOD :



  • In a bowl add urad dal and stoak it for 11/2 hour and drained it 
  • In a blender add urad dal, salt, asafoetida and grind it in to fine paste
  • Now heat a pan and make vada and soaked it in a water for up to 10 mins
  • And drained it and keep it aside
  • In a bowl add yogurt and beat it well untill it became creamy
  • Now add salt, asafoetida, coriander leaves and again beat it well
  • In a frying pan add oil, mustard, chilli, ginger to that and fry it over
  • And pour it into the beaten curd, mix it well 
  • Take all the items like vada, curd and kara boondi
  • Now it time to make dahi vada, in a serving bowl add vada 
  • The first topping curd to that and then the next topping add kara boondi 
  • Click kara boondi to view
  • Now the dahi vada is ready to serve.

PICTORIAL :




In a bowl add urad dal
Pour the water on it and stoak it for 2 hour
Like this
add it to the blender
Add asafoetida
Salt
Then grained it into smooth paste
In a kadai add oil to that
Take some amount of batter in to the oil
Fry it 
Now drained it and take some water also
Dip the vada on it 
Stoak it for 10 mins
Vada puffed up
And now take it out
Take your ingredients and vada
In a bowl add yogurt
Beat it well untill it became creamy
Add salt to that
Coriander leaves
Asafoetida to it
And beat well 
In a pan add oil, mustard, urad dal
Then chilli 
Ginger
Pour it into the beaten curd
Mix well
Now it's ready
Take all items
In a bowl add vada
And then your curd
And then kara boondi 
Serve it
